Update your roster

Confirm that all of your students' information has been correctly imported to the site. You can also optionally create teams and roles at this stage.

Ms., Mr., Mx.

By default, your full first and last name will appear on the site. If you'd prefer to be referred to with a title, edit your account details (as above) and change your first name to the appropriate title.

Build your site

Create your first page

Custom Pages replace the built-in News and Social features from the previous version of the platform.

Everything students upload to the site is always visible on the Dossier, but Pages allow you to simulate real-world context and create a sense of place for your student's work. For example, you could create a news page with a crisis for students to respond to.

Every Page has a live preview on the Home page so students can quickly get a sense of what's going on in the simulation.

To create a page:

  1. Click Home in the top menu bar

  2. Click New Page

  3. Enter a name for your page

  4. Choose a built-in theme or design your own

  5. Decide who can see posts on the page.
If you choose "Teammates" or "Submitters", each team or individual will see their own version of the page with only their submissions

Give students something to do

Prompt students to introduce themselves in character.
  1. If you've just created a page, click Add Activity to give students something to do there

    • You can also click any page's Edit button on the Home screen to add activities later

  2. Choose New Activity from the pop-up menu

  3. Choose an activity type

    • Post (rich text, images, or videos)
    • One-liner (short, social media style text posts)
    • Link (share or embed content from elsewhere)

  4. Enter a name for your activity and, optionally, a description to differentiate it from other activities

  5. Review the default settings for your activity and detailed Custom instructions, if you'd like

  6. When you're ready, you can Open the activity using the switch at the top of the screen or any time on the Edit Page screen

More activity types

You can also create activities independent of Pages

  1. Click Tools in the top menu bar

  2. Choose Activities

  3. Click New Activity

    • In addition to Posts, One-liners, and Links, off page activities include
      • Action (probability based action attempts with in-world consequences)
      • Avatar (upload a picture to represent your character)
      • Character Name (name yourself)

Troubleshooting signup

If a student can’t sign up because their email address isn’t accepted

Sign up is based on email, so the first thing to check is that the email they’re trying to sign up with is the same email you’ve associated with their account. In the Tools menu, click Students, then the orange Edit icon, then look for the Email Address field near the top of the page.

While on the student’s page, also take a look at the student’s name. If you don’t see the words “Registration Pending” in red under the student’s name, they’ve already signed up and can log in.

If a student can’t sign up because they didn’t receive an email from the site to set their password

Once the site asks a student to check their email, it’s already sent the message. It’s possible there’s a delay on the student’s email server, but they should also check their spam or notifications folders to make sure the email didn’t end up there.

If you still can't get a student signed in

If you've tried everything and you can't get a student signed up, you can go to the students page, click the orange edit button, and set a password for a student manually. They can log in with that password immediately.

And if all else fails, or you don't have time to try...
